Myra J. Lasley Ellis

INVERNESS, FLORIDA AND FORMERLY OF GREENWOOD

Myra J. Lasley Ellis, 89, passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2021 in Inverness, Florida. She was born on September 27, 1931 in Indianapolis, to Max and Georgia (Kidwell) Rabb. She graduated from Washington High School in Indianapolis. Myra and her first husband Bob Lasley following Bob’s dreams and bought a 100 acre farm outside Morgantown, Indiana in 1967.

Myra raised her 4 children on the farm as Bob would have wanted after his passing in 1968. Myra took a job at Trafalgar Elementary in the Library to be close to her two youngest, Kevin and Barry. When they went to High School at Indian Creek she moved to the high school library. She retired when the youngest graduated in 1976.

She met her second husband, Bob Ellis, in 1971 whom she met through great family friends, Jim and Virginia Moore. They married on December 29, 1972. Myra and Bob Ellis were married for 40 years. They enjoyed traveling and buying property that became the Las-Ellis business. They retired to Florida in 1991. She enjoyed many years playing golf and even got a hole-in one once.

Myra enjoyed being an artist and giving and selling many paintings to family and friends. Myra loved her family and friends. In later years, she found the love for Bridge. In Myra’s words, she would say she was a "so-so" Bridge player. She was also a master quilter and world traveler, but most of all a wonderful Mother and Friend.

Myra is survived by daughter: Carol Codling, of Inverness, Florida, Malinda Lasley (daughter in law) of Trafalgar, sons: Bruce Lasley (Jamie) of Franklin; and Kevin Lasley (Annette)

of Franklin; stepsons: Bud Ellis (Debbie), Gary Ellis;18 great grandchildren; 5 nieces; 2 nephews; and her life-long friend, Dorothy.

She is preceded in death by her precious son Barry Lasley, step-children: Danny and Mary Lou (Ellis) Bryant, and Cathy Ellis (Givens), parents: Max and Georgia (Kidwell) Rabb, Robert D. Lasley (husband), Robert Ellis (husband), brother: Robert Rabb and sister: Tootsie Michaels.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Myra at The Garment Factory Event Center (Province Room), 101 E Wayne St, Franklin IN 46131 on Sunday, April 25, 2021 from 1pm to 4pm. Please come and celebrate Myra’s life and share stories with family and friends.
