Franklin man charged again with domestic battery

A Franklin man with a history of domestic battery is charged again with the same crime after he bruised a woman around the eye during an argument.

Tyler R. Jamieson, 29, is charged with domestic battery with a prior conviction, a Level 5 felony. Jamieson could face up to 6 years in prison.

Bargersville police were called Feb. 23 to the Johnson Memorial Hospital emergency room where they met with the victim. She had a black eye, according to a probable cause affidavit filed April 16 in Johnson County Superior Court 2.

A warrant was issued April 20 for Jamieson’s arrest, and police arrested him Thursday, according to online court records.

The victim told police on the evening of Feb. 22, she asked Jamieson not to smoke a cigarette indoors and he became angry and aggressive. He started throwing things at her, then got in her face, according to court documents.

He yelled at her and acted like he was going to hit her. On the second swing, he did punch her, striking her left eye, court documents show.

Doctors said the victim had no broken bones, but may have suffered a slight concussion, according to court documents.

The victim filed a protection order in March, and police spoke with Jamieson at that hearing. He told them he did not hit her, court documents show.

Jamieson was charged in February 2016 with domestic battery in the presence of a child, strangulation, two counts of battery against a public safety officer and resisting law enforcement. He was sentenced to a year in prison, all of which he served on work release, according to online court records.

Jamieson is being held at the Johnson County jail on $3,500 bond.
