Bobby Thomas Strunk 88 of Greenwood, IN passed away Friday May 7, 2021.

He was born March 30, 1933 in Springville, Indiana to Luther and Sena (Owens) Strunk. He married Sharon K. Strunk, she preceded him in death on September 14, 2009.

He was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War. He additionally served in the United States Air Force Reserve and the Air Force National Guard for 25 years.

He had worked for the United States Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane Division, served as a tool room machinist and tool designer for Naval Avionics in Indianapolis, designer, tool design engineer and gauge engineer for Cummins Engine Company and worked part time for Columbus Tool & Gauge. After retirement, he enjoyed serving as an usher at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, TN.

He enjoyed crafts, making flower pot people and ballroom dancing.

Survivors include his children Rachel Hyde (Andy) of Greenwood, IN, Troy T. Strunk (Kris Wright) of Nashville, IN and Karla Akers (Heather Culp) of Bloomington, IN, seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, two sisters Betty Edwards Pencek of Lutz, FL and Linda Phillips (Larry) of Springville, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister Bonnie Silvers, brothers Eugene Strunk, Don Strunk and Claude Strunk.

Pastor Chris Franklin will conduct a memorial service on Thursday May 13, 2021 at 7PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed for family and friends to connect at www.swartzmortuary.com/obituary/bobby-strunk. The United States Army Honor Guard will conduct military honors.

Inurnment will take place at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Nashville, TN.
