Softball

Grizzly Cubs handle Woodmen

Izzy Harrison pitched a two-hitter, striking out 12, and aided her own cause by going 3 for 4 with a homer and three RBIs as Franklin cruised to a 10-0 win over visiting Greenwood on Wednesday.

Maddie Hedges also drove in three runs for the Grizzly Cubs (12-8, 7-5 Mid-State), while Morgan Carter and Madison Snyder each scored twice.

Trojans clinch MIC crown

Center Grove wrapped up at least a share of the MIC championship by beating North Central, 7-2. Lex Warner drove in a pair of runs for the Trojans (17-5, 6-0), while Hannah Haberstroh scored two runs and Payton Shimanski had a pair of hits and an RBI in support of winning pitcher Abbi Patton.

Warriors defeat Falcons

Debbie Hill struck out 10 from the pitching circle in Whiteland’s 6-2 win over Perry Meridian. Macy Cornelius had two hits for the Warriors (12-7, 8-4 Mid-State), and Hill and Trinity Borders each drove in a run.

Whiteland shuts out Perry

Drew Helton struck out 10 while twirling a complete-game two-hitter as Whiteland blanked Perry Meridian, 5-0, on Wednesday. Ethan Shipp and Jon Wray each had a pair of hits for the Warriors (6-10, 4-7 Mid-State), with Shipp and Nick Dwenger scoring two runs apiece.

Girls tennis

Woodmen sweep Hawks

Meri Yusef’s three-set win at No. 2 singles finished off Greenwood’s 5-0 triumph over Decatur Central. Marisa Linville and Maggie Boyce won in straight sets at first and third singles, while both doubles teams (Sophia Davidson and Brooklyn Hanson at No. 1, Ashlee Walton and Ava Stein at No. 2) won comfortably.

Creek nips Mooresville

Addy Tunell and Avery Burress picked up the clinching point at second doubles and Indian Creek pulled out a 3-2 victory over Mooresville. Lauren Foster and Zoe Rayback won handily in the first two singles spots for the Braves (9-6).

Boys golf

Braves roll past Eagles

Ryan Lengerich earned medalist honors with a 43 as Indian Creek beat Brown County, 189-239, at Tameka Woods. Toby Sturgell added a 46 for the Braves.
