Greenwood police is warning residents of potential scam calls from someone posing as a police officer.
The department has received several complaints in the last month of false soliciting calls from Greenwood police, according to a Greenwood Police Department news release.
The caller spoofed the Greenwood Police Department’s main telephone number so that it appears to be legitimate on a caller ID, and identified themselves multiple times as “Officer Griffith” with the department, according to the news release.
Greenwood police does not solicit by telephone ever, the news release said. Anyone receiving a call like this is advised to hang up immediately and report it to a local police agency.
