Modlin perfect in Braves’ win

Freshman Carter Modlin threw a perfect game, retiring all 15 batters he faced as Indian Creek celebrated its senior night with a 10-0 triumph over Edinburgh on Friday. Modlin struck out seven for the Braves (7-11), who got two RBIs apiece from Mason Britt, Justin Partyka and Brock Bragg.

Warriors’ rally falls short

Whiteland got a seventh-inning RBI from Brant Kunz but couldn’t complete the comeback in a 3-1 loss against Martinsville.

Woodmen sweep Giants

Greenwood coasted to a 5-0 victory over Ben Davis on Friday, improving to 6-6 on the season. Marisa Linville, Meri Yusef and Maggie Boyce earned singles victories for the Woodmen, Sophia Davidson and Brooklyn Hanson won at first doubles and Ashlee Walton and Ava Stein got the No. 2 doubles point.

Softball eliminated from HCAC tourney

Franklin College kept itself alive with a 10-6 elimination-game win over Anderson on Friday afternoon before its season came to an end in a 9-4 loss to top seed Transylvania.

Annie Kluemper had five hits and three RBIs on the day for the Grizzlies, who finish the season with a 21-15 record.

Baseball wins postseason opener

Alex Reinoehl pitched five innings of scoreless relief to help Franklin College hold off Mount St. Joseph, 12-7, in the opening game of their HCAC tournament first-round series. The Grizzlies (24-12), who got two triples and two RBIs from Sean Sullivan, will face the Lions again today at noon with a third and deciding game to follow if necessary.
