Paul Horton Lewis

GREENWOOD, INDIANA

Paul Horton Lewis, 83, of Greenwood, Indiana passed away on May 25, 2021. He was born on March 8th, 1938 to John and Helen Lewis in Mt. Carmel, Kentucky.

Paul was foremost a people person and never knew a stranger. He was actively involved in many service organizations including the Masonic Lodge, the Shriners, Scottish Rite and was an Honorary Kentucky Colonel. He enjoyed travel and was a passionate fan of music, especially country and bluegrass.

He became a private pilot and loved taking journeys, forging lasting friendships at the Franklin Flying Field.

Paul found the perfect partner in the love of his life, Jeanie (nee Cline) Lewis, whom he wed in 1957. Together they raised three children and owned and operated the Suds (Dog n Suds) in Greenwood, Indiana and a convenience store in Southside Indianapolis.

He is survived by his wife Jeanie, sons Mark and Darren (Gail), daughter Delinda (Glenn) LaFara; three grandchildren, Zachary Sloan (Mary), Tyler and Conner Lewis; two great grandchildren, Atticus and Claudio Sloan. He is also survived by a brother, Courtney Lewis (Henrietta), and sister Marilyn Swim (Douglas). Also numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and very dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Helen Lewis, brothers Ellis and Charles Ray, and sister Frances.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 29, 2021 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at Jessen Funeral Home ~ Whiteland Chapel. A funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at 1:00pm at Mt. Carmel Christian Church in Mount Carmel, Kentucky with visitation from 11:00am until the funeral hour. Paul will be laid to rest at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Mount Carmel, Indiana.

Per Jessen Funeral Home, social distancing regulations are recommended with guests maintaining a minimum of 6-feet apart from one another. The family requests that masks be worn. No food is permitted at this time.
