Dorothy Ellen Orebaugh

INDIANAPOLIS

Mrs. Dorothy Ellen Orebaugh, Indianapolis, passed away on the early morning of Thursday, June 3, 2021 at her residence. She was 97. Dorothy was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, August 14, 1923 a daughter of the late Lee and Elizabeth Jean (Mayes) Mayes.

Dorothy was a graduate of Decatur Central High School and had worked for a time at her brother’s upholstery business. She was definitely a people person and loved to talk with her family and friends. She loved being outdoors as well as shopping, doing puzzles and crocheting. Dorothy enjoyed listening to country music especially that of Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Patsy Cline, Reba McIntyre and Dolly Parton. She was a spunky, feisty and fun lady and was definitely ‘old school’ in what she did and what she liked. She will be remembered as a wonderful mother, grandmother and aunt. She was a member of the Moose Women’s Auxiliary in Speedway.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Joyce Wildman, Jack (Ronda) Orebaugh and Rock (Shelley) Orebaugh; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as two brothers, Dick Mayes and Sonny Mayes.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in passing by her husband, Ray L. Orebaugh; her son, Raymond Orebaugh and several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, June 8, 2021 in the Benjamin Franklin Mausoleum Chapel at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens with burial immediately following.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until the time of service Tuesday at the mausoleum chapel.

For those choosing to make a memorial contribution, the family had suggested those be offered to the Alzheimer’s Association.
