Donald M. Denny, 86, of Bargersville, Indiana, passed away Thursday, June 3, 2021 in Indianapolis.

Don was born December 6, 1934, to the late, Clarence and Ruth (Whitaker) Denny.

He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, serving during the Korean War. He was one of the attendees on the September 2017 Honor Flight to Washington D.C.

Don married Flora Lee Grider on July 22, 1962 in Indianapolis; they were married for 58 years.

He was employed with National Starch Corporation as a liquid glue operator, retiring in 1997 after 36 years of service with the company.

Don enjoyed fishing and taking his grandchildren to teach them how to catch the “Big One”.

He was devoted to serving the Lord. Don was a member of the Waverly Baptist Church, where he enjoyed being a deacon for many years.

Don is survived by his wife, Flora Denny of Bargersville, his two children, David (Jill) Denny of Greenwood, and Darcy (Chad) VanLannen of Bargersville, four grandchildren, Donovan Denny, Drake Denny, Kaylee VanLannen, and Ethan VanLannen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and four brothers, Erstel, Clarence Jr., Charles and Carl Denny.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday June 9, 2021 at Waverly Baptist Church, 7225 Waverly Park Rd., Martinsville, Indiana. Visitation will be on Tuesday June 8, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the church.

He will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, Indiana.

Per Jessen Funeral Home, social distancing regulations are recommended with guests maintaining a minimum of 6-feet apart from one another. Masks are required when requested by the family.
