Man arrested on second battery charge

A Franklin man was arrested on his second battery charge in a year.

Corey Hight, 39, was arrested on a charge of domestic battery with a prior conviction, a Level 5 felony.

The Greenwood Police Department responded to a call from the domestic violence hotline about 1 a.m. Thursday. A woman in the 1000 block of Greenwood Spring Drive reported she had a black eye and possibly a broken nose from a domestic dispute, according to a Greenwood Police Department report.

She told police her husband, Hight, drank two fifths of alcohol and was upset with her, and she did not know why. He laid on her arm while they were in bed, and when she asked him to move, he grabbed her and twisted her arm, according to the report.

After Hight let go, he punched her on the left side of her nose. She separated herself from him, and he eventually calmed down, the report said.

The victim’s left eye appeared to be swollen, she had a laceration on her nose and bruises on her arm. She told police she was in pain, but denied medical attention, according to the report.

Hight denied hitting the victim when police questioned him He said he was gone fishing all day, and then they went grocery shopping. He first told police he slept all day, then changed his story, saying they did “couple things” all day, the report said.

Hight was previously convicted of battery resulting in moderate bodily injury Feb. 18, against the same victim. He is on probation, according to online court records.

Hight was arrested and taken to the Johnson County jail, where he is held without bond.
