GREENWOOD

Mark H. Schier 67 of Greenwood, IN passed away Thursday June 10, 2021 surrounded by his family. He was born April 4, 1954 in Topeka, Kansas to John H. and Judy (Martin) Schier. He married Valarie L. (Lambert) Schier on May 21, 1983 in Spokane, Washington, she survives.

He was a 1972 graduate of Greenwood High School where he enjoyed playing sports. He was a 1986 graduate of Eastern Washington University in Cheney, Washington.

Mark was a United States Air Force Veteran having served four years. He had been an area supervisor for McDonald’s restaurants in Gunnison, CO and Greenwood, IN for 20 years. He later was blessed to have his dream job at The Outdoorsman Sport Shop in Greenwood for eight years from 2012 until 2020.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and the outdoors.

Survivors include his wife Valarie L. (Lambert) Schier of Greenwood, IN, daughter L. Nicole “Nikki” Schier (Josh Carpenter) of Greenwood, IN, son Will Schier (Laurie Schier) of Hebron, OH, two grandchildren Aidan Cooper Edwards and Brody Carpenter, father John H. Schier of Greenwood, IN, siblings Marci Bennett (Shell) of Trafalgar, IN, Eric Schier (Beth) of Greenwood, IN, Kurt Schier (Jennifer) of Greenwood, Indiana and many nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Judy (Martin) Schier, grandson Atlas John Schier and sister Cindy Smith.

Pastor Jamie Murphy will conduct a celebration of life service on Sunday June 13, 2021 at 4PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN with military honors to follow by the American Legion Post 205 Honor Guard and will be live-streamed for family and friends to connect at www.swartzmortuary.com/obituary/mark-schier. The family will receive friends from 2PM until service time at the mortuary.

Interment will take place at a future date at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.
