GREENFIELD
Barbara (Hudson) Shoufler, age 81, of Greenfield, passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2021. She was born in Greenfield on July 10, 1939 to Harold Hudson and Lurene (Shields) Hudson. She graduated from Charlottesville High School in 1957. On January 5, 1958, she married Jimmie Ray Shoufler in Charlottesville.
Barbara was a homemaker for her family and then worked for Indiana Knitwear Corporation in Greenfield for 20 years. She was a member of the Hancock County Shorthorn Association; Indiana Shorthorn Lassie Association where she served as secretary/treasurer, and the Indianapolis Hiking Club. Barbara was a strong mentor and advocate of breast cancer awareness. She was known to many as the unofficial greeter at the Sue Ann Wortman Cancer Center, where she spent a lot of her time in the past five years. In her free time, Barbara enjoyed her flowers and visiting with her friends.
She is survived by her children, Debbie (Duane) Vansickle of Greenfield, Dennis (Kathy) Shoufler of Fortville, and Dan (Diane) Shoufler of Fortville; grandchildren, Justin Shoufler of Fortville, Kyle (Lauren) Shoufler of Modoc, Zach Shoufler of Fort Collins, CO, Jacob Shoufler of Guymon, OK, and Maggie Shoufler of Fortville; brother, Don (Sylvia) Hudson of Greenfield; sister Charlotte (Phil) Slaughter of Greenfield; brother-in-law, Ted (Rita) Shoufler of Bloomington; sister-in-law, Sharon Sexton of Columbus; and several beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie; and parents, Harold and Lurene.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 28, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel at Gravel Lawn Cemetery, 9088 W. 1025 S., Fortville, IN, 46040. Pastor Fred Powers will be officiating. Burial will follow at Gravel Lawn Cemetery.
