John W. “Big John” Kolthoff

WHITELAND, INDIANA

John W. “Big John” Kolthoff, 81, of Whiteland, Indiana, passed away at his residence on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 surrounded by his family.

John was born on December 31, 1939 in Rocklane, Indiana to the late Irene B. (Harris) and John E. Kolthoff.

John married the love of his life, Phyllis (Henderson) Kolthoff, on January 6, 1961 in Greenwood, Indiana. They were married for 60 wonderful years.

John worked as a vehicle salesman for Bowman Used Auto Sales and Mayes RV for many years until his retirement and was a dedicated member of the Jubilee Masonic Lodge in Whiteland for more than 50 years. He loved vacationing in Florida and going to the casino. John enjoyed taking car rides just about everywhere and sharing stories with his friends.

John is survived by his wife, Phyllis, of Whiteland, IN; his two daughters, Kimberly Kolthoff of Franklin, IN and Kay Kolthoff of Whiteland, IN; his three siblings, Larry Kolthoff of Indianapolis, IN, Jack (Linda) Kolthoff of Bargersville, IN, and Debbie (Anthony) Hart of Franklin, IN; countless friends, neighbors, nieces, and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 24, 2021 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Jessen Funeral Home ~ Whiteland Chapel followed by a funeral service on Friday, June 25th at 1:00pm at the funeral home with visitation from 12:00pm until the funeral hour. John will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, Indiana.

Per Jessen Funeral Home, social distancing regulations are recommended with guests maintaining a minimum of 6-feet apart from one another. Masks are required when requested by the family. No food is permitted at this time.
