Greenwood drug raid nets five arrests

Police arrested five people Tuesday after they discovered methamphetamine and paraphernalia at a house in the 300 block of W. County Line Road and in a car.

Nathan Granger, Benjamin Spaulding, Kelsey Elizabeth Smith, Jeffrey Bandy and Kaitlyn Denoon were arrested on drug- and gun-related charges, according to a Greenwood Police Department report.

About 11:30 a.m., officers served a search warrant at the house, the result of a joint effort by Greenwood police, the Franklin Police Department, the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office and the federal Drug Enforcement Administration.

The SWAT team announced its presence and entered the unlocked house. They located four people at the house, including a person standing in the yard who was not arrested, according to the report.

Bandy, 54, owns the home. He was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine and a syringe or needle. He told police both were his.

Detectives also found a purple pistol, which Bandy said belonged to Granger. Bandy told police no one else in the house handled the gun and that Granger would frequently become aggressive. Granger was arrested on a charge of possession of a firearm by a violent felon.

Granger, 40, had been living at the house for six to eight weeks, Bandy told police. Granger was arrested on three additional charges, including two counts of manufacturing and dealing methamphetamine, and possession of a syringe or needle. He is being held on $37,000 bond.

Small amounts of meth were found at the house, so it is unlikely Granger was making or dealing meth out of the house, according to the report.

Smith, 30, and Spaulding, 47, arrived at the house while it was being searched. The Indianapolis residents told police they were there to see Bandy. The pair consented to a search of their vehicle, where police found methamphetamine and glass pipes, the report said.

Both were arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia and are being held on $2,200 bonds.

Denoon, 22, was charged with possession of a syringe or needle, false reporting and probation revocation. She is being held on $4,650 bond.
