Road closures ahead for I-69 project

Part of a White River Township intersection will close today due to Interstate 69 construction through Johnson County.

The east side of the Stones Crossing Road and State Road 37 intersection will close permanently today.

The state’s detour route includes Morgantown Road and Smith Valley Road.

Construction crews will build a new access road this summer to connect Stones Crossing Road and Travis Road, according to an Indiana Department of Transportation news release.

Once that access road is complete, drivers will be able to use it to get to State Road 37.

State Road 37 will experience lane closures today between Bluff Acres Drive and State Road 144. The closures occur as crews move dynamic message signs to the right shoulder to begin grading work on the center median, according to the news release.

Southbound traffic on State Road 37 will shift to new pavement and bridges next week from State Road 144 to just south of Henderson Ford Road in Morgan County. The work will affect northbound traffic the following week, with traffic shifting across the median to accommodate concrete barriers, which will be moved on that section of State Road 37, the news release said.
