FRANKLIN
Edward Royce Gillen, 75, of Franklin, IN passed away Thursday, July 8, 2021 at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis, IN. He was born July 13, 1945 in Vincennes, Indiana to John Ronald Gillen and Elsie Mae (Miller) Gillen. He married Shirley D. (Barnett) Gillen on May 20, 1975 in Franklin, IN, she preceded him in death on November 15, 2013.
He had been a security guard for GardaWorld Security Services at Danzer Veneer in Edinburgh, IN.
He enjoyed walking, working, watching television, movies and fishing.
Survivors include his children Marlene Frazier (Richard) of Franklin, IN, Jeff Richards (Cindy) of Greenwood, IN and Mike Richards of Franklin, IN, a brother Jimmy Gillen (Sharon) of Terre Haute, IN, a sister Beth Ann Sweigart of Farmersburg, IN, nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Shirley D. (Barnett) Gillen, a daughter Norma Mink and sister Wanda Jean Gillen.
The Reverend Shan Rutherford will conduct a memorial service on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at 7PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed for family and friends can connect at www.swartzmortuary.com/obituary/edward-gillen.
