Police arrested a Greenwood man Thursday after a teenage girl said he molested her last summer.

Jared Rohr Jones, 38, is charged with child molesting, a Level 1 felony, the highest crime a person can be charged with besides murder. If convicted, he could face up to 40 years in prison.

The victim told a family member on June 24, 2020 that Jones had taken her to the woods behind a Franklin apartment complex and molested her a few days prior, according to a probable cause affidavit filed on July 13 in Johnson County Superior Court 2.

The family member reported the incident the same day to Franklin Police, according to court documents.

The victim said she tagged along with another family member who went out to smoke with Jones. After that family member left, the molestation occurred, court documents show.

DNA swabs were taken from evidence and the victim, according to court documents.

Jones is being held on $11,500 bond at the Johnson County jail. An initial hearing is set for Wednesday.
