Ronald J. Susemichel

GREENWOOD

Ronald John “Ron” Susemichel, 79, of Greenwood, passed away on the evening of July 26, 2021 at Johnson Memorial Hospital. Ronald was born on November 28, 1941 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Robert M. Susemichel and Jessie A. (Bisselberg) Susemichel.

Ron graduated from Manual High School in Indianapolis and went on to achieve an Electrical Engineering Degree from Rose Hulman Institute of Technology, formally known as Rose Polytechnic Institute, in 1963. Ron went to work for General Electric in Philadelphia, where he met his future wife Nancy. On November 2, 1968 he wed Nancy Lee (Mueller) Susemichel in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Ron’s career took him from Philadelphia to Rhode Island and Massachusetts before he came back to Indianapolis to work at Engineered Models Corporation alongside his father. Ron spent 33 years there until his retirement in 2010.

Ron was a devoted son, brother, uncle, husband, father, and grandfather who loved his family deeply and most recently enjoyed the pleasure of spending time with and cheering on his seven grandchildren.

Ron was always reading, doing crossword puzzles and had the “Do it Yourself” attitude when it came to fixing anything mechanical, electrical, etc. — you name it. He loved to study history, read documentaries and he would have been a formidable contestant on the TV show Jeopardy. He had a passion for sports and was always involved with his three sons’ activities as a coach, volunteer, or spectator. He lived for Sunday afternoon Indianapolis Colts games and had a hidden allegiance for any sports team from Pennsylvania. Ron volunteered in various capacities at Resurrection Lutheran Church over the years and also enjoyed his time with friends for a mid-week poker game or a good meal. Ron always put the thoughts and needs of others ahead of his own and has left a legacy of devotion, selflessness, and love to those he leaves behind. He will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Nancy L. Susemichel, Sons, Mark, Brian (Bridget) and Greg (Shaylee) Susemichel; grandchildren, Alexa, Roth, Avery, Leo, Hollyn, Claire and Lilah Susemichel, his brother Robert C. Susemichel and a host of nieces, nephews and numerous close friends that he would call family.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested for donations to be made in Ron’s memory to a charity of your choice.

Services for Ron are Monday, August 2, at 11: A.M. at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 445 E. Stop 11 Rd., Indianapolis 46227 with visitation on Sunday at Singleton and St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, 7602 Madison Ave. Indianapolis, 46227 from 4:00-7:00 P.M. Ron will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Cemetery following the service on Monday.
