Two Trafalgar teenagers and a child were seriously injured in a Tuesday morning crash on Interstate 65.

At 7:37 a.m., state police and first responders were called to the scene of a serious crash on I-65 northbound near Raymond Street on the southside of Indianapolis. A Dodge pick-up truck had rolled over a bridge and onto a city street below, according to an Indiana State Police news release.

The teens, Kya Lasley and Megan Murray, both 17, were ejected from the vehicle. When first responders arrived, they found the girls on the ground, both with serious injuries. Indianapolis Fire Department firefighters, along with paramedics from EMS and officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, worked quickly to treat the patients and get them transported to local hospitals, according to the news release.

Keilyn Stauffer, 10, was entrapped in the wrecked Dodge pick-up truck, and had to be extricated by firefighters and transported to a local hospital, the news release said.

State police could not say which hospitals the girls were taken to, but said Wednesday morning all three were listed in stable condition, said Sgt. John Perrine, ISP spokesperson.

The pick-up truck, driven by Lasley, was northbound on I-65 near Raymond Street. State police suspect a sideswipe collision occurred between the Dodge pick-up and a northbound GMC pick-up truck during a lane change. The collision caused the Dodge to hit a guardrail and concrete barrier on the right side of the highway before overturning over the barrier, according to the news release.

During the initial impact of the crash with the guardrail and concrete barrier, both teens were ejected. Neither were wearing a seatbelt. The driver of the GMC pick-up truck involved was not injured, the news release said.

This crash is still under investigation. Neither drugs nor alcohol are suspected.
