Carl C. Beck, Jr.

EAST PALATKA, Fla.

Carl C. Beck, Jr. died on August 11, 2021, in Palatka, Florida, where he has lived and worked for many years. Carl was born on July 22, 1940, to Marie V. Eckstein Beck and Carl C. Beck, Sr in Indianapolis. He was predeceased by his parents, his life partner Daryl Younker, PhD and by his nephew David T. Beck Jr., his godson.

He is survived by his sister Janice Beck (John) O’Brien, Steven J. (Rita) Beck, and David T. (Jan) Beck, many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, and Craig and Mary Alexander and family. He will be greatly missed by all his family!

Carl attended Sacred Heart Catholic grade school and Sacred Heart Central High School in Indianapolis, and Xavier University in Cincinnati. Carl was a consummate entrepreneur, having worked in real estate, international travel and was the owner of numerous auto dealerships in Southern Illinois, Palatka and St. Augustine and central Florida, and numerous other auto related businesses. He enjoyed helping young people get started in business and helped many young business people in the Palatka, Florida area. He received numerous business and community awards for his work in Palatka and St. Augustine Florida.

Carl was involved in numerous civic organizations including as President of Palatka Kiwanis Club, a member of Palatka Elks and Moose lodges. He was a trustee of St. Johns River State College, the Putman County Humane Society, and served in several different positions at St. Monica Catholic Church, where he was a loyal parishioner.

Carl loved being with his family and enjoyed all his nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Carl loved to travel and had been to over 120 countries around the world. He was an avid auto race fan, attending over 50 Indy 500’s, and many NASCAR races and was a sponsor of several NASCAR drivers.

Carl had a great love of animals, especially his dogs which were his constant companions. He was also a supporter of the Humane Society.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12:00 noon on August 18, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1530 Union Street, where family and friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until Mass. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Lauck & Veldhof Funeral & Cremation Services is entrusted with arrangements.
