FRANKLIN
Terry Michael “Mike” Hughes, 64 of Franklin, passed away on Thursday morning, September 2, 2021 in Greenfield, Indiana.
He was born on September 14, 1956 in Franklin, Indiana to John Hughes and Vitula (Sharp) Hughes-Whitworth. Mike is survived by his longtime loving companion of thirty years, Beth Benbow. Also surviving are children, Christy Flynn, Michael “Little Mike” Watkins (Stephanie Dill); Terry Flynn (Tony); Brent Benbow (Kelly) and Brice Benbow (Cassie); eighteen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; siblings, Anthony “Tony” Braden (Fran); Rodney “Kenny” Braden (Martha) and John “Roger) Hughes (Donna) and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in passing by his parents and son, Jonathan “Jon Jon” Flynn.
Mike attended Franklin High School.
He was the co-owner and operator of Franklin Auction from 1958 to May 5, 2019.
Mike enjoyed music and auctions. He enjoyed figure 8 racing and had his friends and family watch the three hour races with him. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Mike was the best dad, grandpa and partner.
Mike was blessed to receive a kidney transplant in 2019 after spending 6 years on dialysis treatment.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at 11:00a.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton Street (U.S. 31) in Franklin. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 from 4:00p.m. until 8:00p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
