Dessie Marie Atwood Lynn Reeves, 90, resident of Franklin, Indiana passed away on Thursday, August 12, 2021 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Dessie was born in Liberty, Kentucky on April 5, 1931 to her late parents Clay and Nettie (Owens) Atwood.
Dessie worked as a certified nursing assistant for many years at the Indiana Masonic Home in Franklin, Indiana before retiring. She could often be found crocheting, trying out a new restaurant or browsing yard sales in her spare time. She cherished her role as a mother and grandmother; never turning down a chance to spend time with her loved ones, especially during family cookouts. Dessie always looked forward to going on vacation and traveling to new places. She found great joy in playing bingo and conversing with her friends at the senior citizen center.
Dessie is survived by her two daughters, Loretta (James) Chumbley and Sandy (Raymond) Hodson, both of Franklin, Indiana; her eight grandchildren; Chris, Chad, Mark, Amy, Mike, Shannon, Brittany, and Amanda; her thirteen great-grandchildren, Desiree, Austin, Corbin, Kiara, Phillip, Kayla, Ellie, Lillie, Adley, Kayden, Presley, Kealen, and Kayson; her three siblings, Jr Atwood of Ohio, Roger Atwood of Kentucky, and Gerald Atwood of Ohio.
Dessie was preceded in death by her husband, William Reeves, her son, Jerry Lynn, her daughter, Vickie Johnson, and her nine siblings.
A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 1:00pm at Jessen Funeral Home ~ Whiteland Chapel with visitation from 11:00am until the funeral hour. Dessie will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, Indiana.
