Shirley June (Sledge) Cramer
BARGERSVILLE
Shirley June (Sledge) Cramer, 86, of Bargersville, IN passed peacefully with her family by her side at University Heights Health Care on August 16, 2021.
June was born to Oral Hensley Sledge and Sadie (Walker) Sledge on June 15, 1935 on the Camp Atterbury grounds in Bartholomew County, IN. She attended Union Township Schools.
She married William “Bill” Cramer on July 20, 1952 at Bluff Creek Christian Church. She became a farmer’s wife and together they raised six children and was a loving mother to Susie, Sally, Steve, Stan, Sam and Sara.
June and Bill started the Southern Indiana Farm Toy Show which is held each year at the Johnson County Fairgrounds in Franklin, IN. They traveled the state attending farm toy shows. They participated in several parades with their antique tractors. They were very proud that Cramer Farms was named 2010 Johnson County Farm Family of the Year. Johnson County Fair time was a favorite time each year for them. June was a 4-H Leader for the Golden Chain 4-H Club in Union Township. June was an excellent seamstress and loved doing cross-stitch. She was an avid jigsaw puzzler.
June was proud to be a direct decedent of Richardson Hensley who first settled Hensley Township in Johnson County. She had in possession the Hensley family Bible that has been passed down thru many generations.
Survivors include her daughter Susie Friend (Howard) of Bargersville, IN, son Steve Cramer (Bonnie) of Trafalgar, IN, Stan Cramer of Bargersville, IN, Sam Cramer (Penny) of Franklin, IN and and daughter Sara Dickinson (Jim) of Bargersville, IN; grandchildren Matt Bridges (Jessica) of Trafalgar, IN, John Cramer (Emily) of Bargersville, IN, Bob Dickinson (Tori) of Bargersville, IN, Jenny Pieper (Ryan) of Franklin, IN, Bill Cramer II of Trafalgar, IN, Brian Cramer of Trafalgar, IN, Jessalyn Garrett (Jamey) of Greenwood, IN, Amy Stamm (Dusty) of Pittsboro, IN and Chad Friend (Danielle) of Anderson, IN; great-grandchildren Mason Bridges, Harrison Bridges, Raelyn Bridges, Cody Parrinello, Kylie Robertson, Kortney Stamm, Casey Stamm, Josslyn Cramer, Bailey Cramer, Charlee Cramer, Waylon Cramer, Chase Pieper, Alex Pieper, Emmett Garrett, Madisyn Dickinson, Olivia Friend and Abigail Friend, a great-great-grandchild Jillian Parrinello, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband William “Bill” Cramer on August 16, 2018, her daughter Sally Cramer Carvin, parents Oral Hensley Sledge and Sadie (Walker) Sledge, father-in-law and mother-in-law Robert and Waneta Cramer, son-in-law Chuck Carvin, sisters Mary Louise Shoffner and Alice Bryant and brothers Richard Sledge, and infant brother Jimmy Sledge.
Her nephew Frederick Thomas will conduct a service on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 1:30 P.M. at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed for family and friends can connect at www.swartzmortuary.com/obituary/shirleyjune-cramer. Burial will be at Harris Cemetery in Union Township, Johnson County, IN.
