Police arrested a Greenwood couple on domestic battery charges after police say they hit one another in front of a juvenile over the weekend.

Zachariah Lee Lightfoot, 38, was arrested on a charge of domestic battery with prior unrelated convictions, a Level 5 felony. Pamela Allaine Lightfoot, 42, was arrested on a charge of domestic battery, a Level 6 felony. The Johnson County Prosecutor’s Office will decide what, if any, charges to file.

Greenwood police responded just before midnight Sept. 11 to a house on the 1300 block of Norton Drive on a domestic battery report. Police were told an altercation had occurred between the couple, and that Pamela Lightfoot was having trouble breathing, according to a Greenwood Police Department report.

When police arrived, they found Zachariah Lightfoot outside, and Pamela Lightfoot inside the house. Pamela’s neck had red marks all over it, according to the report.

Pamela Lightfoot told police she and her husband had been arguing earlier that day, and the argument continued when they came home. At the home, Zachariah Lightfoot pushed her down, causing her to hit her head on the couch and her legs to go numb. Pamela Lightfoot told police she did not want her husband to get into any trouble, the report said.

Pamela Lightfoot then told police she had punched Zachariah Lightfoot prior to him pushing her down, according to the report.

As police were talking with Pamela Lightfoot, a juvenile entered the home, and initially said they could not remember anything. They eventually told police they had seen the couple outside the home near their cars.

When the juvenile entered the home, they confronted Zachariah Lightfoot, and Zachariah pushed them on top of Pamela, the report said.

The juvenile told police they had seen Zachariah Lightfoot put his hand’s around Pamela Lightfoot’s throat, according to the report.

When police spoke with Zachariah Lightfoot, he said he and Pamela had been having issues that day, and Pamela hit him in his mouth, so he grabbed her by her chin and pinned her down, the report said.

Police noted he had blood on his nose.

A relative arrived and stayed with the juvenile. The Department of Child Services was also notified, according to the report.

Both were taken to the Johnson County jail where Zachariah Lightfoot is held without bond, and Pamela is held on a $1,000 bond.
