Police looking for suspect in Emmanuel Church burglary

Greenwood police are asking for the public’s help in finding a suspect wanted in connection to a burglary at a local church.

A man was caught on camera pulling on multiple doors at Emmanuel Church, 1640 West Stones Crossing Road, Greenwood, about 6 p.m. on Aug. 13, according to a Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana news release.

The man was able to enter the church through one of the doors and was seen on surveillance cameras walking around various parts of it. At some point, the man hid in the church and was later caught on camera exiting the church about 6 a.m. the next day. A Nintendo Switch console was later reported missing from one of the church’s rooms, the news release said.

Church officials regret that they were unable to track down the man to help him, Lead Pastor Danny Anderson said in a statement.

“Obviously, he is in need, and we would have loved to help him, and we still would. If he called today, we would offer assistance,” Anderson said in the statement.

The man was seen wearing a grey t-shirt and red shorts, according to the news release.

Anyone with information about the theft or the suspect is asked to contact Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-8477.
