Jerry Lee Blackwell, 83, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 23, 2021 in Greenwood, IN surrounded by his loved ones.

Jerry was born June 10, 1938 to Lester and Ora Blackwell in Anniston, MO, where he affectionately referred to as down home. He moved to Indianapolis with his family as a young child, but Missouri was always his home. On September 21, 1957, he married the love of his life, Margaret Blackwell, and had three daughters. He was a devoted family man, an avid lover of animals, and collector of all things. He enjoyed building hot rods, hanging out with his car club buddies, and trips down home. He was a refrigeration technician by trade and retired with the local teamsters as a mechanic.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Margaret Blackwell, his brother, Gene Blackwell, and sister, Margaret Darling.

Jerry is survived by his daughters, Christine (Michael) Will of Bloomington, Kimberly (Robert) Buschard of Indianapolis, and Karen (Roger) Blackwell-Williams of Indianapolis; four grandchildren, Anna (Zane) Shotts-Egeler, Aaron (Maci) Will, Glenna Shotts, and Isaac (Amy) Will; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Phyllis (Jim) Strong; several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A memorial service will be conducted on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at 7:00pm at Jessen Funeral Home ~ Whiteland Chapel with visitation from 5:00pm until the service hour.
