FRANKLIN
Oren Lee Demaree, 86, a lifelong Johnson County resident, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 2, 2021 in Franklin, Indiana. Born June 12, 1935 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Ralph W. and Mary H. (Benge) Demaree, he was a 1954 graduate of Center Grove High School. Oren was a retired supervisor from USF Holland Trucking after many years of service.
He was a member of the Devol Masonic Lodge No. 766 F & AM, the Indianapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite, the Murat Shrine Club and the Johnson County Shrine Club. Oren was a charter member of the Southport Christian Church and was a member of Teamsters 135.
His hobbies included collecting knives, coins, trucks, tractors and model semi-trucks. Oren sure enjoyed driving his red truck out for his Cherry Coke. He also worked in catering at the Greenwood Chick-Fil-A, drove a school bus for Center Grove School System and he transported the motorcycles for the Indianapolis Police Department Motorcycle Drill Team. He enjoyed being a member of the Tri-State Gas Engine and Tractor Association and White River Valley Antique Association.
Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Joann Demaree; his children, Kevin (Dawn) Demaree, David Demaree & Lori (Ron) Butcher;
seven grandchildren, Oren, Amanda, Vickie, Ralph, Matthew, Teresa and Douglas; one step grandson, Wil; ten great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; many nieces and nephews and their loving dog Lucy Belle.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Barbara (Don) Pursel and Ruby Borski.
Visitation will be observed on Wednesday, October 6th from 10:00 -12:30 PM at G. H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home at The Gardens of Olive Branch, 1605 S. State Road 135. The Masonic Lodge will conduct a service at 12:30 PM, followed by the funeral service at 1:00 PM.
He will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the Indiana Masonic Home Foundation.
