County rivals were placed on a collision course when the IHSAA released the state volleyball pairings on Sunday night.
In the Class 4A Shelbyville Sectional, Whiteland and Greenwood will face off in the opening first-round match, with the winner advancing to a semifinal against Franklin Central. On the other side of the bracket, Franklin takes on the host Golden Bears in the first round, with Center Grove awaiting in the other semi.
Elsewhere in 4A, host Roncalli begins its postseason with a first-round match against Southport.
In Class 3A action at Beech Grove, Indian Creek faces Cardinal Ritter in a first-round clash, with the surviving team to meet Herron in the semifinal round.
Host Edinburgh opens against Waldron on Thursday in its Class A sectional; the prize for the winner is a semifinal date with Hauser. Greenwood Christian drew a first-round bye on the bottom side of the bracket and will play a Saturday semifinal against either Southwestern or Morristown.
