Richard Lee ‘Rick’ Moore

Richard Lee “Rick” Moore 57 of Nineveh, IN passed away Sunday October 3, 2021 at Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus, IN after a hard fought battle of illness. He was born July 1, 1964 in Bluffton, Indiana to Billy Joe Moore and Vera Mae (Roush) Lee.

Rick entered the Indiana Army National Guard on March 26, 1983 and served his country in Germany, Operation Iraq Freedom/Operation Enduring Freedom 08, Operation Afghani Resolve and Operation Enduring Freedom. He later was employed as a dull status federal tech and an analyst for the Indiana State Energy Management.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 233 in Edinburgh where he was First Vice, served on the Honor Guard and Legionnaire, a member of the Disable American Veterans.

He loved his country, never knew a stranger, a strong faith in Christ, always positive and looked for the good in everyone. He avidly loved his role of playing Santa Claus for children.

He married Katherine Marie “Kitty” (Steele) Moore on March 28, 1983 in Houston, Texas, she survives, also surviving is his daughter Natalie Nicole Moore Catron (fianc? Scott Craven) of Indianapolis, IN, his son Dominic Alton Moore (Amanda) of Elgin, SC, grandchildren Billy Moore, Matthew Moore, Conner Moore, Rachel Moore, Gemma Craven, bonus grandson Jordan Craven, his mother Vera Mae (Roush) Lee of Ft. Wayne, IN, stepmother Marlene Moore of Fremont, IN, brother Greg Moore of Ft. Wayne, IN, sister in law Melissa Moore of Oxnard, CA, sister Heather (Moore) Etheridge of Fremont, IN and sister Mary Moore-Bowers (Josh) of Angola, IN, as well as, aunts Emma Henderson of Bowling Green, KY and Demiris Taylor of Indianapolis, IN, best friend and cousin Albert Dinwiddie of Atlanta, GA, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father Billy Joe Moore, a brother Gary Lynn Moore, a daughter Marie Renee Moore, grandparents and numerous aunts and uncles.

Steve Ensley will conduct a service on Friday October 8, 2021 at 1PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN with military honors by the United States Army Honor Guard and the Edinburgh American Legion Post 233 Honor Guard.
