Rebecca “Becky” Beckham Farquhar

EDINBURGH

Rebecca “Becky” Beckham, 65 of Edinburgh, passed away on Monday, October 11, 2021 at her home while surrounded by loved ones.

Becky was born July 15, 1956 in Austin, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents Kenneth W Beckham, N Marie (Bennett) McHargue and her older brother Walter “Tony” Beckham. She is survived by her sister Beverly Kay Beckham Autry (Bryan) of Edinburgh, IN, many nieces and nephews across the country, and her beloved cats Mandy and Missy.

Becky grew up in a military family and spent most of her childhood moving every four years to places around the world. Texas was her first home but Tennessee, where she spent most of her adult life, was a close second. In 2009, she relocated to Archie, Missouri to be with her mother Marie after her stepfather William passed away. Eventually they moved to Edinburgh to be closer to her sister Beverly where they both cared for their mother until her passing in 2016.

Becky was an avid animal lover and a true “cat lady” at heart. Anywhere she lived, her neighbors knew that she was the “one who takes care of the stray cats”. They would seek her out for advice and to help find loving homes for strays. Becky always looked for the good in people and helped anyone in need. She would always find someone to talk to anywhere she was, it would take hours to get out of Walmart. She was a homebody but also a little outgoing even though she tried to keep it a secret. Being home with her cats, family and watching some of her favorite game shows was how she like to spend her evenings.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Edinburgh, Indiana. In lieu of flowers for the family, please make a donation in her honor to your favorite charity, animal shelter or the Alzheimer’s Association.
