GREENWOOD
Curtis R. Speer, 83, of Greenwood, IN passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2021.
Curtis was born in Beech Grove, IN on January 10, 1938, a son of the late Stephen R. and Anna Mae (Bartlett) Speer. He married the love of his life, Judith A. Jackson at the Acton Baptist Church on August 15, 1958.
He was a very active member in the Beech Grove Christian Church, and later, the Greenwood Christian Church. He worked for Indianapolis Life Insurance Company as Chief Underwriter for over 25 years. He was an avid golfer, a history buff, and enjoyed traveling, specifically a yearly trip to Florida with his family. He was an IU Basketball fan, as well an Indianapolis Colts fan. He cherished spending time with his friends and family.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Judy Speer; children: C. Brian (Sue) Speer, Chris Speer, Cliff Speer, and Marianne Speer; grandchildren: Christopher (Maria) Speer and Shaun (Emily) Speer; and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Charles Speer.
Family and friends will gather Monday, October 18, 2021, for visitation from 4-8pm at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, 481 W. Main St. Greenwood, IN 46142. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at 11am, also at the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow the funeral service at Greenwood Cemetery in Greenwood, IN. Memorial contributions in his name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN 38105.
