Russell W. Ericson

MORGANTOWN

Russell W. ‘Russ’ Ericson, age 81 passed peacefully on Wednesday morning, September 15, 2021 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was a resident of Morgantown.

Russ was born November 18, 1939 in Gaylord, Minnesota. He was a 1957 graduate of Gaylord High School and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Agronomy from the University of Minnesota in 1962. He retired in 2006 as a Field Investigator for the Indiana Department of Revenue after 20 years of service. Prior to that, he worked as a Pharmaceutical Representative for Ayerst Laboratories. After retirement, Russ helped on the Hickey Farm and hauled water in Morgantown for several years.

He was a 50-year member of the Morgantown United Methodist Church, where he was a former Trustee. Russ was a previous member of the Morgantown Lions Club and the Jaycee’s. He was an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings and the University of Minnesota Gophers. He enjoyed wintering in Venice Beach, Florida and traveling, especially cruises, with his wife and family. He could always be spotted at his children’s, grandchildren’s or great grandchildren’s sporting events, providing support and encouragement. He truly loved his family and will be missed by all those that loved him dearly.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Larradine (Hess) Ericson, whom he married on March 24, 1961 in St. Paul, Minnesota. Russ is also survived by his children, JoNell (husband, Roger) Hickey of Morgantown, Brent (wife, Emily) Ericson of Martinsville and Kris (husband, Tris) Stewart of Boston, MA; grandchildren, Hannah (Jeremy) Abraham and Gretchen (Jared) Lucas both of Morgantown, Alexandra Ericson of Martinsville, Emma (Levi) Banks of Bedford and Abigail Walters of Martinsville; great grandchildren, Ainsley and Adley Abraham and Waylon Lucas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emory and Alice (Budke) Ericson.

A celebration of Russ’s life will be conducted by Rev. Ann Spahr on Saturday, November 13th at 11 a.m. at the Morgantown United Methodist Church, 20 E. Washington St. in Morgantown. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time on November 13th at the church. A luncheon will be provided following the services. Arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
