Ivy Tech to collect food, clothing donations for students

Ivy Tech Community College will be collecting food donations this week at its Franklin and Columbus campuses.

Ivy Tech’s second annual Spooky Food Drive will take place from 10 to 11 a.m. today at their Franklin campus, 2205 McClain Drive, and tomorrow from noon to 4 p.m. at their Columbus campus, 4475 Central Avenue. The food will be given to the college’s Ivy Food for Thought Food Pantry, which provides meals, snacks and hygiene items for students, according to an Ivy Tech news release.

Ivy Tech is specifically asking people to donate items such as: ramen, mac and cheese, popcorn, microwavable pasta, microwavable meals, individual fruit cups, peanut butter, hand soap, shampoo/conditioner, toothpaste, feminine hygiene items, shaving cream, deodorant, detergent, pens, paper and pencils. The college is also accepting formal attire for interview clothes and clothing donations.

Those who would like to donate, but are unable to attend the food drive can drop items off at donation boxes located at the Franklin and Columbus campuses. Clothes can also be dropped off at these boxes, the news release said.
