Charges filed in Franklin bar stabbing

Prosecutors have filed charges against the man accused of stabbing someone following a fight outside a Franklin bar.

Seth W. Hodson, 27, is charged with battery with a deadly weapon, a Level 5 felony. Hodson was also arrested on a preliminary charge of criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, but that is not being pursued by the Johnson County Prosecutor’s Office.

The stabbing occurred during a fight between Hodson and the victim about 3 a.m. Oct. 16 outside a downtown Franklin bar, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in Johnson County Superior Court 2.

Security camera footage shows Hodson and the victim nose to nose in an argument outside the bar. A struggle ensued and someone broke up the fight. The two separated but remained on the premises, according to court documents.

A short time later, Hodson walked past the victim in the bar’s parking lot and attacked him again. Hodson grabbed the victim by the left side of his head and stabbed him in his ear, court documents show.

The victim was taken to an Indianapolis hospital for treatment. He had a cut on his face, and his ear was heavily damaged, according to court documents.

He was taken to the Johnson County jail and released on $500 bond.

An initial hearing is set for Dec. 1.
