$1M lottery ticket sold in Edinburgh

A customer of a Casey’s General Store in Edinburgh will be $1 million richer if they claim their lottery prize.

The customer bought the Powerball ticket Wednesday at the store on 210 W. Center Cross Street, and is the second Casey’s customer in Johnson County to buy a ticket worth at least $1 million in the past two weeks. Another person bought a Hoosier Lottery ticket worth $5 million on Oct. 29 at Casey’s in Franklin, after matching all six numbers. That winner has come forward, said Jason Mueller, public relations manager for the Hoosier Lottery.

The Edinburgh lottery player missed out on the jackpot by one number — the Powerball number — but matched the other five numbers in the drawing, the odds of which are one in 11.7 million, according to a Hoosier Lottery news release.

That player matched the winning numbers of 19-25-43-46-48, but missed the Powerball number, which was 14. With no one matching all six numbers, the jackpot has increased to $173 million. Players should buy their tickets by 11 p.m. Saturday for the 11:35 p.m. drawing, according to the news release.

The winner should contact the Hoosier Lottery at 800-955-6886 to set up an appointment to claim their prize, according to the Hoosier Lottery.

They should also put their ticket in a safe place and contact a financial adviser, Mueller said.
