INDIANAPOLIS
On November 12, 2021 God called Joseph (Joe) Dudley Green home to serve as one of his loving angels. Joe was born on February 2, 1942 in Columbus, Indiana to John Francis and Florence Marie (Blanford) Green.
He served in the US Navy as a radarman from 1960-1964. He married Nancy Jo Funkhouser June 12, 1965. After working for 26 years, he retired from the Internal Revenue Service in 2000.
What Joe enjoyed most in this world was being a devoted husband to Nancy. He also enjoyed puzzles, Nascar, western movies, woodworking, IU sports, gardening, and playing cards. He was parishioner at Nativity Catholic Church. Joe was honored for over 25 years of service to the Boys Scouts. He received two national awards for his service, the Bronze Pelican Award and the St. George Award.
Joe is survived by his wife; his children; Dudley (Maura) Green of Greenwood, IN, Michael (Jennifer) Green of New Palestine, IN, Kelly (Robert) Fascia, of Naperville, IL, and Beth (Andrew) Sauber, of Cincinnati, OH. He is also survived by a sister, Della McGuire of Columbus, IN; a brother, Robert Green of Florida; 9 grandchildren; and countless nieces and nephews across the country.
Visitation will be held at Flanner Buchanan – Memorial Park, 9350 E. Washington Street, Indianapolis IN, on Thursday, November 18 from 4pm to 8pm. Funeral mass will be held at Nativity Catholic Church on Friday, November 19 at 10am. He will be laid to rest with family in Garland Brook Cemetery in Columbus, Indiana.
