Hurley “Morris” Doyle

Hurley “Morris” Doyle, 86 of Franklin, passed away on Sunday, November 21, 2021.

He was born on August 28, 1935 in Taylorsville, Indiana to Joseph Berry Doyle and Virginia “Virgie” Dare (Thompson) Doyle. He married Kathleen Faye (Harrison) Doyle on December 25, 1955. She preceded him in passing, in addition to his parents and ten siblings. Morris is survived by his brother Carlos Doyle (wife, Jan); his four children, Debbie Doyle, Pam Meyer (husband, Rob), Randy Doyle, and Rica Doyle (partner, Lisa Schafer); six grandchildren, Daniel Doyle, Travis Doyle (fianc?e, Mary Spears), Carol Ann (Meyer) Smith (husband, Jeremy), Brooke Meyer, Anthony Lewis and Zach Schafer; and one great-grandchild, Holden Smith.

He was a 1954 graduate of Clark High School, and led the county in scoring in varsity high school basketball when his team won the Sectionals.

Morris was a dairy farmer south of Whiteland. He drove a school bus for Clark Pleasant schools for many years and especially enjoyed driving for extra-curricular trips. Later, he cared for the facilities and grounds at the Franklin United Methodist Community. He ended his career at Besse Veneer in Trafalgar.

He was a member of Needham Christian Church, where he sang in the choir as a young adult.

Morris loved his work. He was passionate about farming, and was skilled at mechanics. He was a conversationalist, and could talk to anyone about anything. He most enjoyed spending time with his kids and their friends, especially when they were growing up.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 29th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton Street, (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. A celebration of life service will be Tuesday, November 30th at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Morris will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
