Drivers on Greenwood’s far eastside should prepare for a nearly three-week-long closure of Olive Branch Road.
Olive Branch Road will be closed between Berry Road and State Road 135 beginning today as the city works on its Western Regional Interceptor project. The Western Regional Interceptor encompasses 10 miles of sewer pipeline through White River Township, which is serviced by Greenwood’s sanitary sewer system. When it’s completed, the project will alleviate capacity issues, while also expanding capacity for future development in Greenwood and White River Township, according to the city.
The official detour route for drivers going eastbound on Olive Branch Road is to take Morgantown Road to Smith Valley Road, then State Road 135 to continue east. Westbound travelers are encouraged to follow this route in reverse.
The work is expected to be completed on or by Dec. 17 weather permitting. Drivers are encouraged to proceed through all construction areas with caution.
