Girls basketball

Grizzly Cubs stay unbeaten

Class 4A No. 3 Franklin kept its perfect season going with a 65-55 victory over Plainfield on Saturday afternoon. Brooklyn York led the Grizzly Cubs (11-0, 3-0 Mid-State) with 17 points, followed by Kuryn Brunson with 15 and Adelyn Walker with 13.

Warriors pick up league win

Braylyn Clendenen’s 23 points helped Whiteland snap a four-game skid with a 63-56 home win over Martinsville. The Warriors (3-7, 2-1 Mid-State) also got 15 points from Emily Reed, 11 from Gwen Higdon and eight from Emma Piercy.

Lancers get past Indians

Edinburgh used a balanced lineup to defeat Milan, 43-34. Gracie Crawhorn scored 13 points for the Lancers (6-4), Alyssa Funkhouser added 11 and Callie Hancock finished with nine.

Boys basketball

Cougars lose against Saints

Greenwood Christian suffered a 57-32 home defeat against Indianapolis Lutheran on Saturday. Max Booher and Aden Sloan paced the Cougars (2-4) with nine and seven points, respectively.

Grizzly Cubs beaten on road

Franklin was defeated at North Central, 86-52.

Swimming and diving

Trojans split road dual

Center Grove’s girls earned a 133-53 win at Brownsburg on Saturday, while the boys took a 108-77 loss. Lara Phipps (200 freestyle, 100 butterfly) and Grace Clarkston (50 free, 100 backstroke) each had two wins for the Trojan girls, who swept the relays and got first-place efforts from Kayla Fischer (200 IM), Mia Prusiecki (diving), Kiersten Smith (100 free) and Laney Brooks (100 breaststroke). The boys got victories from Garret Crist in the IM and Vincent Howe in the 500 free.

Women’s basketball routs Manchester

Jessica Nix scored a career-high 19 points and Franklin College snapped Manchester’s five-game win streak with a dominating 76-54 victory on the road Saturday. Destinee Cross added 16 points for the Grizzlies (4-3, 2-1 HCAC), CiCi Bailey grabbed 15 rebounds and Sarah O’Day totaled 11 points, seven assists and three blocked shots.

Men’s basketball rallies past Spartans

A 15-2 surge in the second half helped Franklin College come back for a 76-65 win at Manchester. Ty Wright and Ryan Wiggins had 20 and 18 points, respectively, for the Grizzlies (5-2, 2-1 HCAC), while Carter Crowe pulled down a career-high 11 rebounds.
