Boys basketball

Lancers remain unbeaten

Class A No. 4 Edinburgh advanced to the championship game of its own holiday tournament with a 57-47 semifinal win over North White on Tuesday night. The Lancers got 18 points from Travis Jones and 17 from Caleb Dewey.

Edinburgh (9-0) hosts Class A No. 7 Indianapolis Lutheran in tonight’s title contest.

The Lancers rolled past Lanesville in their afternoon first-rounder, 68-48, behind 25 points from Dewey, 15 from Jarrett Turner and 11 from Riley Palmeter.

Cougars split in Monrovia

Greenwood Christian lost its opening-round game at Monrovia’s Bulldog Holiday Classic, dropping an 83-61 decision to Danville, before bouncing back with a 53-34 consolation victory over Milan. Max Booher scored 23 points in the win and 47 on the day for the Cougars (3-6), who will play the host Bulldogs for fifth place today.

Royals drop two in tourney

Roncalli was defeated by host Noblesville, 64-58, in the opening round of the Millers’ holiday tournament. Alex Mull and Gabe Horn scored 15 points apiece for the Royals, with Luke Kegerreis close behind with 14. In the evening, Roncalli (3-3) lost to Northridge, 69-52, despite 12 points each from Horn and Jack Moore and 11 from Kegerreis.

Girls basketball

Woodmen earn tournament title

Greenwood won the championship at the Park Tudor tournament on Tuesday, posting a 34-28 victory over Brebeuf Jesuit before toppling the host Panthers, 47-36, in the final. The Woodmen improve to 7-9 on the year.

Warriors defeat Anderson

Whiteland earned a 73-46 victory at Anderson. Braylyn Clendenen had 20 points and four steals for the Warriors (6-9), who have won three of their last four.

Golf

Shepherd among Curtis Cup hopefuls

Center Grove grad Erica Shepherd, currently a junior at Duke, was among the 12 collegiate players invited by the USGA to take part in a Curtis Cup practice session Jan. 15-16 in Florida. Eight players will eventually be selected for the United States team, which will play against a squad from Great Britain and Ireland next June 10-12 at Merion Golf Club in Pennsylvania.
