Trojans top Bulldogs

After scoring just three points in the first half, Center Grove stormed back to earn a 31-22 home win over Brownsburg on Wednesday evening. Rachel Wirts had nine points for the Trojans (10-6), followed closely by Aubrie Booker with eight and Savanna Bischoff with seven.

Boys basketball

Cougars win at Monrovia

Greenwood Christian defeated host Monrovia, 61-55, in the fifth-place game of the Bulldog Holiday Classic. Max Booher poured in 25 points for the Cougars (4-6), with Blake Shewmaker adding 15.

Royals beaten by Bull Dogs

Roncalli lost to Columbus North, 57-28, in the seventh-place game at Noblesville’s holiday tournament. Luke Kegerreis scored 12 points to lead the Royals (3-4).

Swimming and diving

Grizzly Cub boys, girls fifth

Franklin’s boys and girls teams finished at the bottom of a field of state powers in the Panther Invitational at North Central on Wednesday. Lili Ratzlaff had the Grizzly Cubs’ lone individual victory, taking the girls 200-yard freestyle and finishing second in the 100 free. Allie Lacey was the runner-up in the girls 200 IM and 100 backstroke.

Franklin College

Women’s basketball drops tourney opener

Franklin College was defeated by Piedmont, 85-63, in the opening round of the Amy Hasbrook Memorial Tournament at DePauw.
