Bargersville weighing plans for nearly 400 dwellings

The town of Bargersville is considering two developments that could add hundreds of homes to the fast-growing town, and hundreds of students to Franklin schools.

Copper Meadows, an Arbor Homes development planned northwest of 250 E. Two Cent Road, would be a 38.55-acre medium-density residential development with 108 single-family homes. The entire neighborhood would be in the Franklin school district.

The Bargersville Plan Commission was expected to vote on the development during its December meeting, but board members didn’t have the updated plan to vote on, which includes some changes to the layout of the northeast side of the development to accommodate drainage. Plan commission member Mark Dietel said he would need more information from Arbor Homes on any alterations to the plan, and had additional questions to ask before voting on it later this month.

A vote on the Commerce Grove development was also delayed until this month, as plan commission members wanted answers to additional questions about the project, the most pressing of which was whether the housing development would require a roundabout at the entrance of the neighborhood on Two Cent Road.

Commerce Grove, a 47-acre mixed-use development presented by CrossRoad Engineers, would include space for 100 age-restricted duplexes and 284 apartments.

The development, bordered by Two Cent Road to the south, Copper Meadows to the west, State Road 135 to the east and the Summer Gardens subdivision to the north, would also have four acres of space for commercial development along State Road 135, according to town documents.

As is the case with Copper Meadows, the neighborhood would be in the Franklin school district.
