Hilda ‘Helen’ Provost

FRANKLIN

Hilda “Helen” Provost, 86, Franklin, IN passed away at Johnson Memorial Hospital on January 6, 2022. Helen was born on March 11,1935 in Hammond, Louisiana to Paul Sawyer and Mary Darouse who preceded her in death. She was raised by her grandparents Raymond and Letha Somers.

Helen worked at Ann’s Restaurant in Franklin, IN for 3 years until her death. Throughout her adult life, she worked at Arvins and retired after 30 years of service. Helen also worked 5 years in dietary at Morning Pointe in Franklin.

Helen was a devout Christian and attended Grace Assembly of God in Whiteland, IN. She loved animals and was a terrific gardener. Helen was such a people person and loved to volunteer. She volunteered for 18 years at Johnson Memorial Hospital and also 10 years at Grace Assembly of God’s food pantry.

Helen is survived by her daughters, Lea (Bernie) Green, Kathy Freeman and Sara (Dr. Michael) Ray; Grandchildren, Tracy Britt, Yolanda (Brian) Bray, Paige (Ki) Calaway, Letha (Aaron) Clark, Cody Smith, Benjamin Smith, Jordan Smith, Erik (Katie) Culver, and Ryan (Jennifer) Culver; Great Grandchildren, Kylie Clark, Allison (Grant) Shambo, Ashley (Robert) Deusser, Trey Britt, Olivia Culver, Brooklyn Culver, Ava Bray, Jagger Bray and Niam Callaway; Great Great Grandchildren, Roxanna Deusser, Nora Deusser, Josiah Britt, Theo Deusser and Hadleigh Britt; brother, Paul Sawyer, Jr.; sisters, Carol Peter, Delores Sisprunk and Lynn James; son in law, Hershel Smith; and two very close and special friends, Melissa Rojas and Diane Wilson.

Helen was preceded in death by her daughter, Laura Smith; grandson, Joshua Kean; great grandson, Zeke Callaway; and son in law, Bruce Kean, Jr.

Visitation for Helen will be on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 from 12:30 P.M. to 2:30 PM with her service starting 2:30 P.M. at G.H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home, 1605 S. State Road 135, Greenwood, IN. She will be laid to rest in The Gardens at Olive Branch Cemetery and Mausoleum Park.
