Therapy, networking event planned for seniors

Johnson County Aging in Action is a new senior coalition, a comprehensive and fun approach to living that celebrates the gift of longevity.

Its mission is to create and maintain a coordinated network of health and social services for older adults, provide services to the 60+ community to enhance the quality of their lives, make a difference and provide networking, collaboration, advocacy and education for aging service providers, according to a Johnson County Senior Services news release.

The Johnson County Aging in Action Lunch and Learn Kick-off Meeting is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Impact Christian Church, 2800 N. Graham Rd., Franklin. RSVP by noon today to Wendy Sanders at 317-738-4357.

Guest speaker Kendra Pierson will present on the winter blues and seasonal affective disorder (SAD) in seniors, the differences between the two, causes, symptoms and simple interventions to beat the blues, according to the news release.

Also, Jennifer Pinson will present music therapy, the use of music to work on a non-musical skill, the news release said.
