Braves’ Taylor wins WIC title

Indian Creek sophomore Ella Taylor was a runaway winner in the Western Indiana Conference 1-meter diving championship on Wednesday evening. Taylor posted a score of 450.75, good enough to win by 161.3 points. On the boys side, the Braves’ Willy Martinez was third with a 290.80, finishing just 8.85 points back of first.

The Braves host the swimming portion of the conference meet on Saturday.

Women’s basketball drops nail-biter

Franklin College lost its second straight one-point game, falling to Mount St. Joseph on Wednesday, 70-69. Destinee Cross had 22 points and nine rebounds in defeat for the Grizzlies (5-11, 3-6 HCAC), with Jessica Nix adding 17 points and seven boards.

Men’s basketball claims road win

Ty Wright and Cody Samples collected 18 points apiece, helping Franklin College snap a four-game skid with a 76-72 victory at Mount St. Joseph. Matt Krause chipped in 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Grizzlies (8-8, 4-5 HCAC), who shot 50% from the floor and hit 11 3-pointers on the night.
