Rep. Greg Pence, R-Indiana, filed to run for re-election to represent Indiana’s reconfigured Sixth Congressional District on Tuesday.
“It has been an honor to fight for our Hoosier values both at home in Indiana and in Washington, and I cannot give up that fight now. Now more than ever the hard-working Americans of Indiana’s Sixth District need someone who will be a voice for them over all of the political noise – and that’s why I am running for reelection,” Pence said in a statement. “I am ready to serve again.”
Indiana’s new Sixth Congressional District is comprised of portions of Pence’s previous district including Fayette, Hancock, Randolph, Rush, Shelby, Union, Wayne counties, including Bartholomew County – which includes the Congressman’s hometown of Columbus. The new district will also include all of Johnson County and parts of Marion County.
Currently, Pence will face Zach Smith in the GOP primary. Smith, a Union County resident, filed to run on the Republican ticket on Monday. Pence was first elected to the House seat in 2018.
