Edinburgh drug raids net three arrests

Edinburgh police arrested three people and seized nearly 30 grams of drugs during two separate raids this weekend.

Dara Ranae Simpson, 59, was arrested on charges of dealing methamphetamine, a Level 3 felony; possession of cocaine, a Level 5 felony; and possession of marijuana and paraphernalia, both misdemeanors.

James Loren Hardin, 44, was arrested on charges of possession of meth and marijuana, both felonies; as well as possession of paraphernalia and a schedule V substance and resisting law enforcement, all misdemeanors.

Troy Dale Herren, 38, of Franklin, was arrested on charges of possession of meth and marijuana, both felonies; as well as possession of paraphernalia and a schedule V substance, reckless driving, operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing endangerment and operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

The Johnson County Prosecutor’s Office will decide what, if any, charges to file.

Police served a search warrant Friday at Simpson’s house in the 200 block of N. Walnut Street in Edinburgh where they found 20 grams of meth, 1⁄2 gram of cocaine, prescription drugs and marijuana, according to an Edinburgh Police Department news release.

Police served a separate search warrant Saturday at Hardin’s house in the 400 block of N. Kyle Street in Edinburgh where they found 7 grams of meth, prescription drugs and 3 bags of marijuana, according to the news release.

When police first tried to enter the house, Hardin resisted law enforcement by trying to shut the door on them, the news release says.

All three were taken to the Johnson County jail. Simpson is held on $21,300 bond. Hardin is held on $5,400 bond. Herren is held on $7,400 bond.
