David A. Ellis

TRAFALGAR

David A. Ellis, age 89 passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, January 29, 2022 at Homeview Health &Rehabilitation Center in Franklin. He was a resident of Trafalgar.

He was born April 6, 1932 in Trafalgar, to his parents, the late Allen W. and Stella R. (Preston) Ellis. David was a 1950 graduate of Nineveh High School and went on to serve as a Specialist 3 (Ammo Storage Specialist) with the 55th Ordnance Ammunition Company of the United States Army during the Korean War.

He retired in 1997 from the Maintenance Department of United Technology in Edinburgh after thirty-eight years of service. David was a lifetime member of the Johnson County Antique Machinery Association. His love of tractors and tractor pulling started when his father bought a new Minneapolis Moline Tractor in 1951. Since, David has won many competitions with this tractor, including first place at the Johnson County Fair Tractor Pulling Contest. Relaxation for David, included working on the family farm raising corn, soybeans and hay, after a full day’s work at United Technology.

David was preceded in death on February 3, 2016 by his loving wife of 43 years, Sharon K. (Brown) Ellis; whom he married on June 10, 1972 in Edinburgh. He was also preceded in death by his parents; and a granddaughter, Kristie Price.

David is survived by his children, Deborah (husband, Tom) Deppe of North Vernon, John (wife, Diane) Ellis of Amity, Tom Ellis of North Vernon, Teresa (husband, Fred) Price of Trafalgar, David ‘DW’ (wife, Kelly) Ellis of Hope, Jauna (husband, Wayne) Harshman of Trafalgar, Randy Wise of Morgantown and Tony (wife, Carrie) Wise of Trafalgar; sister, Diana (husband, Paul) Richhart of Trafalgar; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A gathering of friends and family to celebrate the life of David will be held at a future date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation &Personalization Center in Morgantown.
