FRANKLIN
Jesse Thomas Matthews, 85, passed away on February 8, 2022 at his residence in Franklin.
He was born on July 12, 1936 in Tiline, Kentucky to Regnal T. and Margie (Heaton) Matthews. He married Harriett Ann (Martin) Matthews on May 1, 1965. She lovingly survives. Also surviving are children, Ty Matthews; Tamara Lee Barnes; Bart Thomas Matthews; daughter-in-law, Jackie Matthews; grandchildren, Jessica Work, Savannah Matthews, Ty Matthews; Jake Meeks, Eric Barnes, John Matthews; Quinton Matthews and Dalton Matthews, and twelve great-grandchildren. He was preceded in passing by his parents and son, Jesse Elbert Matthews.
Jesse was a 1955 graduate of Arsenal Tech High School.
He worked in heating and cooling at Bolls Furnace in Indianapolis for many years.
Jesse was a member of the Second Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and was a Past Master of Franklin Masonic Lodge No. 107, F &A M. He was an Honorary Member of the Brown County Masonic Lodge as well as several other Masonic Lodges.
A celebration of Jesse’s life will be held on Tuesday, February 15 at 11:00 a.m. at Second Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 1540 N. 800 E., Franklin, Indiana 46131. Friends may call on Monday, February 14 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton Street, (U.S. 31N), in Franklin. Burial will be at Second Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Franklin, Indiana.
