A Greenwood City Council caucus that was delayed by winter weather earlier this month will take place tonight.
Bob Dine resigned from the city council last month to accept a position with the Greenwood City Court. His resignation left open an at-large seat to be filled by the Johnson County GOP.
The caucus was delayed earlier this month due to a winter storm that dropped several inches of snow and ice on the county. The filing period was also extended a week, said Beth Boyce, county GOP chair.
The caucus is scheduled to take place at 7 p.m. today in the council chambers at Greenwood City Center.
Four candidates are vying for the vacant seat — David Cox, Shane Cunningham, Drew Foster and Ronald Palmer. A group of precinct committeeman will choose Dine’s replacement from among the candidates.
Whoever is chosen to fill the vacant seat will be expected serve until Dec. 31, 2023, the end of Dine’s elected term.
